The Fescue grass lawn care plan is tailored to the needs of this primarily cool-season grass. Our year-round care is designed to meet the needs of fescue, which differ significantly from grasses typically grown in our warm-season markets.

Jan - Mar 

A pre-emergent herbicide is applied to help prevent germination of summer grassy weeds such as crabgrass. Fertilizer is applied for needed nutrients. 

The benefit is long-term, and the customer won’t notice immediate changes 

Increased green up and growth of the spring turf. 

Mar - May 

Fertilizer is applied to supply nutrients. Post-emergent herbicide is applied to any visible weeds. 

Turf should become visibly greener. Weeds should curl and turn brown after about 10 - 14 days. 

Turf density and vigor is improved. A dense healthy
turf will discourage weeds and crabgrass. Visible weeds should be reduced within 2 weeks. 

May - Jul 

Fertilizer is applied to maintain color and growth of the turf. A post-emergent herbicide is applied to any visible weeds. 

Turf should become visibly greener. Weeds should curl and turn brown after about 10 - 14 days. 

Visible weeds controlled and color maintained. 

Jul - Aug 

Fertilizer is applied to maintain color and growth of the turf. 

No visible short-term effect from the lime. Weeds should curl and turn brown after about 10 - 14 days. 

Turf density and vigor is improved. A dense healthy turf will discourage weeds and crabgrass. 

Aug - Dec 

Lime is applied to adjust the pH of the soil. Post-emergent herbicide is applied to any visible weeds. 

Turf should become visibly greener. Weeds should curl and turn brown after about 10 - 14 days. 

The PH of the soil is increased, allowing the lawn to better utilize available nutrients and increase response to fertilizer. 

Sep - Oct 

Fertilizer and weed control are applied as needed. Pre-emergent herbicide
can be applied to help control against winter annual weeds as an option, if not seeding. 

Turf should become visibly greener. Weeds should curl and turn brown after about 10 - 14 days. 

Maintenance of color going into winter months, control of visible weeds. 

Oct - Dec 

 

Fertilizer is applied to winterize the turf and increase the health of the root system. 

Weeds should curl and turn brown after about 10 - 14 days. 

Visible weeds should be reduced within 2 weeks. Germination
of Winter & Spring broadleaf weeds such as dandelion will be reduced.
